BDR means BackDoor Rating. It is a pickleball player record built from verified rated-match results to support fairer games, clearer progression, and better-informed event placement.

TPBL uses BDR to give players and organizers a shared evidence-based reference for published categories. It reduces dependence on self-declared level alone and supports fairer matchups without replacing organizer review.

Only eligible finalized rated games count. The system compares the pre-match strength of both doubles teams, evaluates the actual result against the expected result, applies limited score-margin influence, and updates the verified history in chronological order. Exact protected coefficients are not published.

Verified history matters more than a last-minute self-declaration. Lower-category requests can be reviewed against current and recent form, reliability, opponent and partner diversity, and unusual result patterns. A flag asks for human review; it is not an accusation or automatic finding of intent.

Category-specific eligibility and organizer approval apply to every TPBL Leg 2 entry. Verified match results build your official BDR and guide you into the correct published TPBL category. Your numeric BDR stays inside the protected TPBL player system and is not displayed on this public FAQ.
